How to book / pay

It is NOT possible to make a preliminary booking of a boat. We have a wide selection of boats & all the year round more boats will enter to our system. Take your time so you know for sure that you want to hire a boat before you book it.

You can easily enter our website to searh for a boat that you would like to hire. When you find a boat of interest, book the boat directly on our website. However, yo first need to create an account.. You should also fill in the skills / experience you have at the time of booking a boat.
We will then contact you via the email address you have provided. Sometimes we will call you to ensure that you have the knowledge / experience needed.

We may also ask you about your crew that will be on board and where you are planning to sail. Of course you can contact us directly and we will help you to find your boat. The website will tell you all about the boats, age, equipment, motor data, home port, etc.

RTC's task is to make sure that you have the skills required to rent the boat you have booked.
When we checked that this is the case, we will confirm your reservation by e-mail. You will receive a confirmation and information on how to proceed.
RTC's brokerage fee is included in the price you see by 20%. The fee must be paid within 3 days after you received our confirmation (7 days from abroad).

When we received the commission we will send the contract and the complete equipment list with the boat owner's name, address and telephone number. Now you should immediately contact him / her. The boat owner has received an identical contract and is waiting for you to contact him / her.
Before the boat owner signs the contract with you, he/she also want to feel sure that you have the skills required for his / her boat. 30% of the boatowners amount is then paid directly to the boat owner at the same time you sign the contract (page 2). The remaining 70% is due no later than 4 weeks prior to rental period start. The contract states clearly what applies in the event of cancellation.
When it is time for checking the boat out it is also time for you to pay the boatowner the deposit for the insurance. This is paid back to you after the rental period when both parts sign the contract again, confirming that all is in order.

You may pay our brokerage commissions with your card directly on our website without no extra charge.
However, if you want to pay the boat owners money via RTC (and we pay the boat owner) we will charge you an administration fee of 300 SEK.

If you want to deposit the excess/ damage waiver deposit with RTC, we will charge an administration fee of 300 SEK.
However, if somethings happens during the rental period RTC has no right to keep this deposit, we have to transfer the deposit to the boatowner and you together with the boatowner has to solve who and how much that has to be paid/ drawn from this deposit.

RTC's brokerage commission is paid back to the hirer when/ if RTC faile to find a boat to rent. If you cancel a reservation and have paid RTC the commission, your commission remains with RTC for 2 years.During this 2 year period you can use this money again to rent a boat.

If you book the boat and then want to cancel it before you have paid the commission, we will charge you 300 SEK as a booking fee.
(The reason for this is that we want you to be sure that you want to rent a boat before you book as we at the same time take this privately owned boat away from the market)
This 300 SEK you also may use the next time you would like to rent a boat with us ( 2years). ). If you have paid the boatowner his 30% and then cancel, this money will be lost. The last payment to the boatowner is due no later than 2 weeks before the charter begins. This will also be "lost" if you cancel during this period, however if you have an insurance your insurance company might cover this. Please check all details with your insurance company.

The equipmentlist is based on the information we have received from the boatowner. Please be aware of that the Life Jackets NOT is rescue jackets but more a sailing west.

Do you or someone in the company have allergy (against mold) we strongly recommend that you check the boat BEFORE the rental period if possible, or rent a newer boat. A boat is on water and it is inevitable that a boat will get water on board and also under deck via hatches, clothes and wet people.

Rental period

The rental period is normally from Sunday at 16:00 to Sunday at 14:00. A few boatowners rent the boat Saturday/ Saturday.

RTC can usually assist with Weekend rentals. You can see the boats that is possoble to rent weekend if you mark Weekends under advanced search.

Variations in price can occur.

Boats that are rented Saturday / Saturday is NOT possible to rent a weekend!

Boat Equipment

RTC Båtkontakten has a contract with the boatowners in which we demand that the boat is safe, clean and working properly. Security equipment, kitchen equipment, etc. are a given. Generally speaking, you get the boat with the same equipment as the boat owner himself has on the boat when he is using it privately. The boat owner knows the responsibilities he has agreed upon when accepting our terms. You will also receive personal service from the boatowner, in which he / she instructs you on the boat and its individual characteristics. No one knows the boat better than the boat owner himself. You should be aware that when you hire an older boat, it is working but it is not in a tip top new condition! The old expression "you get no more than you pay for" applies to charter boats. Having said that however, we claim that our boat owners are very serious and that an older boat may well be worth its price and your wallet.

When do I get the boat

The boats are rented usually Sunday / Sunday. You check out at 1600 hours and the boat is returned tidy and clean14.00. Some boatowners offers cleaning for an extra charge, then you need to return the boat even earlier. There may be exceptions. If so, this is specified under each boat.

What does it cost

Generally speaking, the younger and more well-equipped boat, the more expensive. You must be aware of that an older boat, sometimes not is in the same condition as a newer. The price of the boat is in relation to the boat's size, age, equipment, home port, etc.

Do I get discounts

Yes, normally 10% for 2nd week and 15% for the 3rd week. In addition, you will receive 10% on the total price when you book before April 15th. OBS! Not all boatowners give this discount, you will find under each boat the actual discount for the specific boat. This does not apply for weekend rentals.

Insurance

All boats are fully insured during the rental period. You deposit an amount equivalent to the insurance deductible of the boat directly to the boatowner at pick up. When you return the boat in the same condition as when you got it, the owner will return the entire deposit amount if not something been broken / damaged during the rental period. Remember that you are responsible for the boat during the rental period and that it is maintained/ maneuvered in accordance with applicable maritime rules.
Remember that the boat should always be returned with full tank, tidy and generally in the same condition as when you got her. There may be exceptions, YOUR boatowner tells you about what rules apply when you sign for the boat.

Who can hire

Naval experience is a must. A license or navigation certificate is also required.
Also note that you must show an identification card or passport to the boatowner.

Last Minute

RTC can help with this. However, it can be very difficult to get hold of the boat owner at the last minute. Our suggestion is that you look through the available boats for the week required, pick 2-3 boats that you are interested in (Boat ID number on the boat), call or email and we will contact the boat owner. Be prepared to book the boat at once when we found a boat. That is, having everything ready with your crew and payment.

Contract

Once you've booked your boat and paid our brokerage commission you will have a direct contact with the boat owner. Now you also receive the contract that RTC provides. The boat owner will receive the same. In this contract everything is specified in detail. RTC's contract is approved and completed by an authorized lawyer.

If something happens during the rental period (IMPORTANT):

In particular, we wish to draw your attention to the need to inspect the boat and all its contents. Also check the sails, mooring lines etc. Any shortcomings should be acknowledged, and be corrected before you set sail. If this not it possible, it shall be noted in the inspection report and contract. It is too late to point out any errors when you come back. You can be charged for damage that a previous hirer is responsible for so please check everything carefully!.

Should something break (which you can´t repair/ fix easily yourself) when you are out on the lake/ sea, do not go to the nearest port and repair the defect at your own expense and then seek reimbursement when you return. (This applies even if you yourself caused the error). Should anything happen, you should instead contact the boat owner and request assistance or instruction from the boat owner on what to do. Make sure that you get very clear direction on this when you check out the boat and information on how to contact the boat owner for help if needed.

Any claim by you for compensation for own costs due to shortcomings/ damage of the boat will not be approved unless the boat owner first had the opportunity to fix this when discovered. You should not expect to be able to settle any claims brought by the boat owner side for compensation for damages that you or the crew caused the boat.

If the boat you have rented not live up to your expectations, and if the boatowner don't have the possibilities to easily repair/ fix the boat, please contact RTC directly!

We will them do our outmost to find another boat for you.
We do not refund our commission if you contact us after the rental period as we then have had no possibilities to replace the boat you have rented with another boat.

On May 25, 2018, the new Data Protection Act enters into force.

This EU law means that we shall treat personal data and strengthen the rights of the individual in terms of personal integrity. When you book a RTC charter, we will have access to your personal information. We use these as a basis to be able to email a booking confirmation if you choose to proceed with a reservation of a rental boat through RTC. Your data will be deleted from all RTC systems after 2 years automatically if you do not actively choose to remain in our systems. You agree to this when renting a boat and register via RTC Båtkontakten AB. We respect your personal information. We have and will never sell them to third parties.

We hope that when summer arrives, we all can travel and enjoy our sailing holidays.
